Complete installation instructions for removable window film that reduces heat loss by up to 40%
Window insulation film creates an insulating air pocket between the plastic film and your window glass. This simple barrier can reduce heat loss by 25-40%, lower energy bills, and eliminate drafts around windows.
Accurate measurements ensure you have enough film and minimize waste.

Wipe down the window frame trim with a clean, dry cloth. Remove any dust, dirt, or moisture. The tape won't stick well to dirty or damp surfaces.
Apply tape around the entire perimeter of the window frame trim. Press firmly to ensure good adhesion. Don't remove the backing yet.
Using your measurements, cut the film 2-3 inches larger than the window frame on all sides. It's better to have too much than too little.
Starting at the top, remove the tape backing and press the film onto the tape. Work your way around the perimeter. Don't worry about wrinkles yet - the film should be loose and baggy.
Using a hair dryer on medium-high heat, hold it 6-8 inches from the film. Move the dryer slowly across the surface. The film will shrink and become crystal clear, removing all wrinkles.
Once shrunk, carefully trim any excess film along the edges with scissors or a utility knife. Leave a small border for a clean finish.
Clear plastic that shrinks with heat to create tight, wrinkle-free seal. Best for most rental windows. Typical lifespan: 1 season.
Thicker material for very cold climates or large windows. More expensive but provides better insulation. May last multiple seasons if carefully removed.
Metallic coating reflects heat back into room. More effective but slightly tinted. Good for windows you don't look through often.
